This easy Honey Chipotle Salmon with Mango Salsa is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy and the fresh mango salsa can't be beaten. I love serving fish with quick salsas and am excited to add this to the rotation with this Italian Salmon with Tomato Basil Salsa and Seared Tuna with Pineapple Salsa.

This super simple salmon dish is perfect for the summer months. Even though this doesn't take too much in terms of cooking skills, I’ll take the complement every time because sometimes simple really is best. The sweet honey and spicy chipotle make a perfect glaze for the honey chipotle salmon and would probably be delicious on all sorts of proteins. Another great addition to this fish is the mango sauce for salmon. This recipe is great for cooking on the grill or in the oven! Not only that, but you won’t be waiting for this delicious mango salsa salmon for long because it is ready in about 15 minutes.

Don’t forget the salsa! I served my salmon with a quick mango salsa made with 1 mango, 1/2 avocado, 1/4 cup cilantro, red onion, lime juice, salt, pepper, and a touch of cumin. Creating a mango sauce for salmon adds a fresh summer flare that you will be glad you didn’t miss out on!

Keep In Mind

  • If you need to thaw your salmon it can take up to 30 minutes per pound under refrigeration.
  • Fish can be difficult to grill if you do not want to use foil. A grill basket is a great alternative to grilling fish in foil.

In a Hurry

  • If you don’t have access to a fresh lime you can always use the lime juice that is commonly sold around the produce section.
  • Cutting mangos can be a pain, it is no secret. If you are in a hurry consider purchasing the pre-sliced mangos in the produce department. For the little that you need it is worth the extra cost.

Change It Up

Not a fan of chipotle salmon? That is not a concern at all because this mango salsa salmon recipe is great with just about any seasoning you can imagine. If I have a guest that does not like chipotle I will leave off the chipotle and only glaze with honey and mango salsa. That way you have a baked salmon with mango salsa without the extra spice.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb skinless boneless salmon (I like Coho salmon)
  • 1.5 tbsp honey
  • 1.5 tbsp chipotle peppers, pureed or minced
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 U mango
  • 1/2 U avocado
  • 1/4 cup cilantro
  • 1/8 cup red onion
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper

Preheat grill to medium high heat. Alternatively preheat the oven to 500 degrees.

Stir together the honey, chipotle puree, and lime juice.

Place the salmon on a heavy piece of foil. Season with salt and pepper. Brush the salmon with the chipotle and honey glaze.

Place on the grill and close. Cook for 8-10 minutes until salmon is cooked through and flaky. For oven cooking, cook for 8-10 minutes and broil for last minute for a caramelized top.

Mango Salsa: Mix together the mango, avocado, cilantro, red onion, lime juice, salt, pepper, and cumin.
