What You’ll Need

Want to know one of the very best things about this delicious recipe? You only need 3 ingredients and there’s a good chance you already have some or all of them at home already! To make these flavorful popsicles, you will need the following key ingredients:

  • Peaches: Fresh, ripe peaches work best in this recipe. If you can’t find any, you are more than welcome to use frozen (thaw them first) or canned peaches.
  • Greek yogurt: Protein-packed Greek yogurt adds a ton of beneficial nutrients to our popsicles and gives them their rich, creamy texture.
  • Honey: Unlike store-bought popsicles that are filled with high fructose corn syrup and other artificial forms of sugar, we use honey as a natural sweetener. Pure maple syrup, homemade simple syrup, and a low calorie sweetener will also work.

Recipe Variations and Ideas

Here are some of my favorite ways to switch up this recipe:

  • Add some booze: Throwing a party? What better way to celebrate than with boozy popsicles? Add a little bit of your favorite vodka or rum to the mixture to make an adults-only version of these tasty treats.
  • Leave some pulp: If you want peach chunks in your popsicles, blend one of the peaches separately and blend until it’s as chunky as you want it. Then, add the chunky mixture to the bowl with the peach puree and the other ingredients so you will have some peach chunks divided evenly into your popsicles.
  • Add a crunch: Try leaving some room at the bottom of your popsicle molds and adding a thin layer of crushed nuts, granola, shredded coconut, or oats. The combination of crunchy and creamy works really well here.
  • Swap out the sweetener: Not a fan of honey? Feel free to swap it out with another natural sweetener like maple syrup or agave.
  • Change up the fruit: You don’t have to use peaches here! Feel free to get creative and use another fruit like strawberries, pineapples, or bananas. You can also combine fruit, peaches and raspberries would be delicious.
  • Use a different yogurt: I like to use plain Greek yogurt for this recipe, you can also use a flavored Greek yogurt or a different type of yogurt altogether. Looking for a vegan alternative? Full-fat coconut milk works great too and gives the popsicles a slightly tropical taste.

How to Store Homemade Popsicles

Hoping to make a big batch of these tasty frozen treats to enjoy at your leisure? You’re in luck! Homemade popsicles keep wonderfully in the freezer. After initially freezing these popsicles, I recommend removing them from the molds and storing them in airtight storage bags. This will help them retain their texture and color, as well as helping to prevent freezer burn. Once properly stored, these popsicles will stay fresh in the freezer for up to one month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about this dish:

How do you make popsicles creamy not icy?

To achieve a creamy texture, you need to add a cream-based component. In this recipe, we use Greek yogurt to make our homemade popsicles creamy, rather than icy. For a vegan-friendly version, you could also use coconut milk or dairy-free yogurt.

How do you make popsicles without molds?

If you don’t have popsicle molds, you can still make homemade popsicles! Paper cups work great as DIY molds and you can stick small plastic spoons or popsicle sticks into them to help form your popsicles. If you have kids, homemade popsicles with paper cups make for a super fun (and tasty) summer project.

Store-bought popsicles tend to come with mile-long ingredient lists that are filled with high fructose corn syrup and artificial preservatives, making them very unhealthy. On the flip side, when you make popsicles at home you get to control what goes into them. By making homemade popsicles with basic, wholesome ingredients, you can create a treat that is perfectly healthy.

What are the best popsicle molds to buy?

This is totally based on preference, but I personally prefer silicone molds. I’ve found that these are the easiest to work with (in terms of getting the popsicles out of the molds) and are also super easy to clean so you can use them over and over again without hassle.

How do you make homemade popsicles vegan?

You can make these popsicles vegan by swapping out the Greek yogurt for coconut milk or a dairy-free yogurt and swapping out the honey for maple syrup or agave.

Can frozen peaches be used for popsicles?

If you can't find fresh peaches or peaches aren't in season, swap in frozen peaches. They are picked in season and flash frozen, so they have all the same great peach flavor. Canned peaches can also be used but the flavor will be slightly different since they are normally packed in some kind of syrup. Consider leaving out the honey if you use peaches packed in syrup.

Slice the remaining peach into thin wedges. Filling options: 1. Put in the peach slices and peach puree. Then fill up with flavored yogurt. 2. Put peach purée first and fill up with flavored yogurt and peach slices. 3. Make 3 layers alternating with peach purée, peach slices, and yogurt. Or get creative! For an easier mixture, stir together the yogurt, peach puree, and peach slices and simply pour into molds.
