Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped (of your choice)
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup coarsely chopped dried fruit (of your choice)

Step 1 Preheat the oven to 350°F . Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the applesauce, maple syrup, coconut oil, and vanilla. Cook the mixture for 3 to 4 minutes, until it is combined and smooth.

Step 2 In a large bowl, toss together the oats, nuts, chia seeds, cinnamon, and salt. Add the applesauce mixture and mix well.

Step 3 Spread the granola out in a single layer about 1/2 inch (1-cm) thick on the prepared baking sheet. Bake the granola for 25 to 30 minutes, until it is light brown.

Step 4 Let it cool for at least 30 minutes for the granola to harden and become crispy. Break the granola into chunks, transfer it to a medium bowl, and toss it with the dried fruit. Store the granola in an airtight container.
