What you need:

  • 4 apples, sliced thin (skin-on)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp water (more if needed)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (or maple syrup)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (more to taste, I use double)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/16 tsp sea salt

Step 1 Heat the butter over medium heat in a skillet. Once melted, add the apple slices and water. Cook for 6-8 minutes until the apples are soft but not mushy,

Step 2 Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir and cook for 1-2 more minutes. Optional: If you prefer the sauce for the apples to be thicker, you can add a cornstarch and water mixture to the skillet or a sprinkling of flour.
