Carne Asada Street Tacos

What you need:

  • 1 lb flank steak, cut into 1/2 inch pieces (or flap meat, skirt steak, sirloin)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • Salt and pepper
  • 8 corn tortillas
  • 1/3 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1/3 cup white onion, diced
  • 1 lime (for serving)
  • 1/2 cup salsa (for serving)

Step 1 Whisk together the olive oil, orange juice, lime juice, white vinegar, soy sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.

Step 2 Add the steak and marinate for at least 30 minutes and not more than 4 hours or the steak will get mushy.

Step 3 Heat a cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add a drizzle of oil. Add the steak in a single layer and sear on one side until it is lightly browned and charred, about 2 minutes. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes more until it is cooked to your liking. We like it medium.

Step 4 Warm the corn tortillas until lightly browned. Add the steak, cilantro, and onion. Serve with lime wedges and salsa of your choice.
