What you need:

  • 24 oz. wild salmon fillets (or farm raised)
  • 1 tbsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil (or butter)

Step 1 Rinse the salmon and pat dry using a paper towel.

Step 2 Mix the spices in a bowl. Taste and adjust spice level if needed,

Step 3 Press the salmon in the spices. If the fish is skinless, press on both sides. If the fish has skin, just press into the flesh side.

Step 4 Heat the oil over medium heat. Add the fish, flesh side down, and cook for 2-3 minutes without touching the filets. Once it is blackened and has a nice crust, carefully flip the fish over. Cook for 5-6 minutes or until the salmon is cooked to your liking.
