I am calling this recipe Portabella Parmesan Buns because I most often use it when I need a low carb or lower calorie hamburger bun replacement. However it makes a delicious side dish in addition to being a terrific bun replacement. If you like spice, I recommend adding some red pepper flakes to your mushrooms for added flavor.

  • 8 U portabella mushrooms
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 tbsp Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Brush the portabella mushrooms with olive oil. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Place directly on grill and turn after 3 minutes or broil for 2-3 minutes until tender.
  3. Top each mushroom with ½ tbsp. Parmesan cheese and cook for 3 more minutes
