Today's an exciting day. For the last few months, we have been hard at work behind the scenes working on three new features to make meal planning even easier and we are thrilled to share them with you today.
But before doing so, we want to say a huge thank you! All of these updates and changes came about based on ideas and suggestions from you. We seriously love hearing from you and every question, comment, suggestion, and idea helps us improve and upgrade the meal planner. Keep it coming!
Now on to the updates! We made a quick video below outlining all the new changes or you can read about them below.
1. Use zero's for meals you don't need
We heard you loud and clear when you said that you would like a way to plan for less meals. Whether this means only planning for dinners, skipping meals that you always eat out, or not seeing suggestions for certain meals - that's all possible in the new meal planner. Here's how it works.
- Go to your Settings and scroll to the bottom section, labeled Daily Servings.
- Enter a "0" for any meals that you do not wish to use.
- Save your settings.
- A light gray, empty box will appear in the meal planner anywhere you indicated "0" servings.
It's that simple - these meals will no longer show up in your weekly meal plan. And don't worry if you change your mind. You can always drag any recipe into that meal and it will automatically be added with the number of servings you indicate.
2. Change servings directly in the recipe
Many of you mentioned that you would like a way to change servings for an individual meal without having to go back to your Settings. Maybe this week you were having extra guests for dinner or maybe you wanted to double a recipe and freeze it for later. Now that's possible. Simply open up any recipe and use the + and - buttons for servings. Once you reach the number of servings you would like, simply save the changes. Your meal plan, recipe, and shopping list are automatically updated. And don't worry if you change your mind, you can just open the recipe again and reset your changes.
3. Easily remove recipes from Favorites and Your Recipe Queue
Now there's an easier way to remove recipes from your Recipe Queue and Favorites. Just open the Recipe Queue or Favorites on the sidebar and click on the small "X" next to the recipe. This removes the recipe in one simple step.
Additionally, we’ve also made important behind-the-scenes upgrades that allow Slender Kitchen to run faster, particularly when working within the interactive meal planner. These updates should make it easier to swap in new recipes, add items, and download your weekly meal plans.
