Weight Loss Wednesday:  Kristen Lost 100 Pounds!

How long did it take you to lose the weight? 525 days…or a little over 17 months.

Lightbulb Moment: I literally woke up one morning and felt disgusting as well as completely miserable; without even giving it much thought, I got dressed, went to the Weight Watchers store, and joined that day.

How did you do it? Weight Watchers! I completely changed how I ate and learned how to portion control. It really is a lifestyle change and what I love most about WW is that you learn those good habits. I lost my first 45 pounds without stepping a foot into the gym. I worked out occasionally over the next 45 pounds, but it wasn’t until I got close to goal that I took exercising seriously. I try to do something active 6 days a week — mostly a combination of power walking, squats, sit ups, or push ups. I love Zumba as well!

What was the biggest challenge you faced? How did you overcome it? My biggest challenge was and still is myself. In the beginning I had zero faith in myself. I didn’t think I could do it. I actually remember thinking “oh, I’ll do it for a couple of months and then probably give up because it won’t work.” Now, I know I can do it…I just have to not be so hard on myself. If I slip-up I just have to get over it and move on. I still have to take it day by day.

What was the single thing that helped you most along the way, especially when things got tough? Instagram — the Weight Watchers community and support is unreal, especially since it’s coming from people you’ve never personally met. If I’m having a bad day, they motivate and inspire me. If I do something good, they cheer me on. Whether they know it or not, they’re the reason I never gave up.

How has your life changed since losing the weight? I have way more energy! I remember getting short of breath just walking to the car.

Exercise routine: Power Walking 6 days a week for at least half an hour, with squats, sit ups, and push ups mixed in.

Favorite breakfast: Dannon Light & Fit vanilla greek yogurt with a ton of blueberries and strawberries

Favorite grab and go snack: apple slices

Favorite quick dinner: Flatout pizza made with a light flatout, canned seasoned tomato sauce, fat-free cheese, and turkey pepperoni

Favorite healthy restaurant or fast food find: Jason’s Deli — Savvy Chicken Salad Wrap is my fave!

Advice for someone just starting: Remember why you started — don’t ever forget that feeling of complete misery, because the only way to not feel that way is to change. And don’t get discouraged when the weight doesn’t fall off as fast as you want. It will come off! It’s not easy, but it’s worth it!

Anything else that you would like to share: Don’t be afraid to mess up! It will happen and you will get over it!

    Kristen…..I enjoyed reading your blog and just wanted you to know that your determination gives me the inspiration to keep going and not give up!! I also attend Weight Watchers and have done so for 1 yr. In that time I’ve lost 60 lbs. which I’m thrilled about. I have, however, been at a standstill for about 6 weeks. Haven’t gained but haven’t lost either. I’m okay with that since there have been many social events during that time that were challenging for me. Very happy with the fact that I did not gain with having to face some delicious food!! I do realize that as time goes on, weight loss slows down. I believe that is what I’m facing right at the moment. Thank you for sharing your story….you look wonderful!! I’m hoping to lose at least 75 more!! Wish me luck!!
