Sunday Slow Cooker:  Simple Slow Cooker Pork

Slow cooked pork ranks up there as one of my favorite foods. Tender, delicious, packed with flavor, and low in calories when made with lean tendeloin – it’s easy, versatile, and so so tasty. This basic recipe makes a tasty pork dish all on it’s own but crisped up in the broiler and then tossed with barbecue or honey and orange, and you have a killer combination. Use leftovers in tacos, burritos, a simple ragu, salads, or sandwiches.

Simple Slow Cooker Pork
Servings: 6

  • 3 lbs. lean pork tenderloin
  • 2 cups nonfat chicken broth
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper


  1. Add everything to the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours.
  2. Shred or slice. You are going to use half of the recipe for tonight and half for dinner on Tuesday.
  3. For crispy pork (recommended!): Preheat the broiler and spread out the pork on a baking sheet. Broil for 4-5 minutes until nice and crispy.

How to Eat It:

  • Plain: Eat it as is! It’s delicious all on it’s own.
  • BBQ: Toss tonight’s pork with 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce, adjusting points and calories accordingly.
  • Honey Orange: Stir together the juice of 1 orange and 2 tbsp. honey. Mix into pork and then broil until crispy.

    I tried this today. It was by far the best and most tender pulled pork I have ever eaten. I used some and added just a small amount of barbeque sauce. I saved the rest to try crispy with the orange and honey. It was fabulous plain as well. Definitely a keeper recipe. Thank you!!
