There are few more delicious pairs out there than steak and mushrooms.  The deep rich flavor of grilled steak and the earthy deep flavors of the mushrooms is a perfect combo.  To make this dish simple and delicious, a quick spice rub is made that is used on both the steak and mushrooms.  Then everything is grilled to your liking in about 15 minutes.  Tasty and easy.

  • 1 lb. mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1.33 lbs. lean sirloin steak, trimmed
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. coriander

Directions

  1. Preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium heat.
  2. Brush the steak with 1 tbsp. olive oil.
  3. Mix together the salt, pepper, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and coriander. Rub onto the steak.
  4. Grill the steak to your desired doneness, 5 minutes per side for medium rare.
  5. Remove the steak and let it rest. Meanwhile, toss the mushrooms with 1 tbsp. olive oil, salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you like.
  6. Place on the grill or grill pan until tender, about 4-5 minutes per side depending on size.
