CocoaVia Strawberry Chocolate Smoothie and a Giveaway

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of CocoaVia®. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love almost anything chocolate and it doesn’t take much for me to find an excuse to add chocolate to my diet. However I am usually trying to limit my chocolate intake since I know most chocolate is packed with sugar and fat. To make myself feel better, I usually like to tell myself about all the healthful benefits of chocolate, specifically dark chocolate which is often touted as a healthful product.

However recently I have learned that many of the benefits are actually contained in the cocoa flavanols. Essentially, although chocolate is good, cocoa flavanols are good for you. The truth is, the benefits of cocoa/chocolate come from cocoa flavanols, not percentage of cacao or the darkness of the chocolate. Cocoa flavanols are powerful phytonutrients, or plant-based nutrients, that are naturally found in cocoa beans. Cocoa flavanols are shown to support cardiovascular or heart health, cognitive health, skin health, blood flow, and exercise performance. Great! Now I can eat my chocolate and feel good about it. The problem? Many times these cocoa flavanols aren’t present in chocolate products because they either contain artificial chocolate flavors or are damaged by heat during the productions process.

Lucky for us, CocoaVia(R) has a delicious and healthy line of supplements that contain cocoa flavanols. It comes in either a pill or powder form that can be added to smoothies, yogurt, coffee, and more. At only 30 calories for the powder packets (my favorite!) and 4 delicious flavors, it is a great addition to a healthy diet.

    Hello Kristen,

I will share with my 22 year old daughter who is currently embarking on her first healthy diet adventure. I’ve provided a link to your website and encouraged to follow this healthy way of eating and avoiding fad diets. As she keeps telling me she’s not a on diet, she’s eating healthy. Trying not to push to hard but she LOVE Dark Chocolate.. I’m a milk chocolate girl.. ..Plus if I can score her own supply she will leave whey protein shake stash alone. :-)

Love your website! Thanks for your work.

I have just started making green smoothies and would love to “spice it up” a bit with cocoa! What a great idea. I was thinking this morning how adding chocolate mint (the leaves from the plant) to a smoothie would provide a benefit from the leaves, too. I’m having a great time making up my own, healthy concoctions, and CocoaVia sounds like a great addition!
